Projection mapping, editorial

Casina Vagnuzzi is a projection mapping and editorial project that explores the architectural and cultural heritage of the Roman building with rich history. The animation uses the concept of “layers of time”, turning architectural changes and historical periods into visual layers projected onto the building. Columns, windows, balconies and decorative elements become active parts of the narrative, shifting, illuminating and transforming as the story moves through different eras. It also traces the development of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, with particular attention to Alfredo Casella and the institution’s transition into a modern cultural force. An architectural model was created as the surface for the projection, while the editorial component documents the research, concept and visual development behind the project.

Concept and Storytelling

The projection follows the idea of “layers of time”, using architectural changes as visual transitions. The building’s details become active elements that shift and transform as the story moves through different eras.

The projection surface was built as a 1:50 architectural model, carefully reproducing the building’s proportions, rhythm and key details to create a precise physical base for the final animation sequence.
